Elmira Country Club Wedding Photography: Elaine & Matthew

Elaine and Matthew’s wedding was one of simple elegance and natural beauty, something you may have expected if you saw their  country engagement photos.  We met at Elaine’s family farm to prepare for the wedding then to her home church for the ceremony and celebrated at Elmira Country Club.  Children were a key part of the day– what characters!  Overall, the day was one of joy, peace and celebration.

You have probably heard the popular verse “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”
A little history here: The verse is said to have started in Victorian England “Something old” symbolizes continuity with the bride’s family and the past. “Something new” means optimism and hope for the bride’s new life ahead. “Something borrowed” is usually an item from a happily married friend or family member, whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride. The borrowed item also reminds the bride that she can depend on her friends and family.
In Elaine’s case, her grandmother’s handkerchief in her bouquet was old, the wedding rings were new, she borrowed her veil and her shoes were adorable and blue!

Their was rain in the forecast all day, but the window of time when we would be outdoors was completely clear, well almost!

Matthew’s brothers’ toast included a “top ten list” that was clever, thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

(Feel free to paste the list in the comment section if you like, gentlemen 😉 )

Elaine and her friends found inspiration from the royal wedding and wore hats to the reception.

Matthew and Elaine love children and they were a key part of the wedding.  Each child had their own style and were so much fun to watch.

It was a real pleasure working with this couple and with the Elmira Country Club.  Thank you for sharing your day with me!

  2. Here are the top 12 reasons we are glad that Elaine McClelland and Matt Briggs are getting married:
Brian – 12. I can finally include Elaine in my family section of facebook.
Rick – 11. Matt finally has someone to spend his hard-earned saved-up money on.
Brian – 10. Hopefully we will now get a card along with the check for all birthdays and Christmases.
Rick – 9. Phil and Mary Ellen briggs are tired of only having 8 grandkids.
Brian – 8. This will give us an excuse to visit the beautiful state of Pennsylvania (even if your NFL teams stink, primarily the steelers)
Rick- 7. Our children will now have another awesome, incredible aunt.
Brian – 6. Perdue just got another life-long customer that will refuse to eat anything but perdue chicken.
Rick – 5. Matt won’t have to pay for dental cleanings any more.
Brian – 4. Matt will hopefully be forced into shaving more often.
Rick – 3. Matt deserved an angel and by George, he’s got one.
Brian – 2. One less competitor in our local golf club championship.
Rick – 1. Because it was god’s will that you two wonderful individuals would end up together.

  3. CONGRATULATIONS ELAINE AND MATT! MAY YOU BOTH ENJOY AN UNENDING LOVE AND RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER AND A LIFE FULL OF FULFILLED DREAMS AND HAPPINESS! YOU BOTH LOOK SO HAPPY!

  4. Matt & Elaine: Congratulations on your most beautiful wedding and my brothers and I wish you both the very best of happiness, health, and good fortune in the years to come. Here is a suggestion for Elaine, however. Keep Matt away from the Elmira Country Club or she may never see him. All the best to you both. John Monfredini
