Montrose Mansion Villanova Conference Center Wedding Photographer: Emily & Scott

A classic Spring wedding uniting two lighthearted best friends… Emily & Scott’s Wedding had many timeless elements… from Emily’s white lace trimmed veil and  pearls to the navy and lemon color scheme and peony and submerged lemon centerpieces.   The ceremony was held at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Chester Springs (Emily’s home church) and the reception followed in the historic Villanova University Conference Center.
The traditional aesthetics of Emily & Scotts wedding were accompanied by a lighthearted spirit and deep, loving undertone.    This photo sets the stage, as it features traditional white lace, pearls and waltz-length veil along with the playful freckles dancing along Emily’s arms and the movement of her sister fixing her veil.  I feel that it encapsulates the feeling of the day so perfectly. 🙂

Emily wanted her bridesmaids to have personalized gifts, and bought them monogrammed canvas bags and personalized wine totes, she actually *made* these hangers for each of her girls:villanova-confrence-center-wedding-photographer-303villanova-confrence-center-wedding-photographer-304villanova-confrence-center-wedding-photographer-305
While Emily is drawn traditional elements, she is also very light hearted, kind and down to earth– I really wanted her bridal portraits to show her personality in full.

Emily’s grandmother, Mimi, wore this gold dove charm everyday.  She recently passed away, so now Emily’s mom wears the charm.  Emily wanted to honor her grandmother on her wedding day and wore the charm as her “something borrowed”.  It was so important to Emily to carry her Mimi and her mom close to her heart on her wedding day.  The photo shows Emily’s mother giving the charm to Emily.  You can also see the same dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, on her ring.

Time to meet the groom… I’d describe Scott as a down to earth, good guy.  He’s intelligent, thoughtful, committed and shares a similar traditional yet relaxed feel about him.

This image captures an important sacrament during their ceremony in St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Chester Springs, the Eucharist.   Wedding guests are lined up waiting to receive the body of Christ, you can also see the stations of the cross in the background.

Scott & Emily have been friends since they were sophomores in college, they have known each other for ten years and dated for 5 of them.  Planning a wedding can be hectic, but at the end of it all, it’s about uniting two people.  Once the ceremony was over, they turned to each other and gave a “high 5” it was such a perfect moment for these two “best friends”.

One of Scott’s roommates from college, Greg, is going through a “selfie” phase right now, which is actually perfect for him because of his long arms ;).  For this shot, I actually didn’t use photoshop, but popped on my fish eye lense to help exaggerate the arm length a little haha.  This totally reminded me of that moment at the Oscars!

The reception was held at the Villanova University Conference Center and Montrose Mansion.  The rain held off just long enough for cocktails to be served outside and for their romantic photos.  I love the image below because you can see the storm rolling in as the guests finish their drinks and hors devours.

Emily spoke highly of her florist, Darlene from Precious Petals in Huntington Valley.  She was creative, kind, and really captured Emily’s style perfectly.

The image above was taken during Emily and Scott’s first dance.  The image below was taken during her father’s blessing.  He recently lost both of his parents, and when he mentioned them during the blessing, he started to get a little choked up.  His brother yelled out from the crowd “Get it together!” everyone laughed (as you can see below) and he finished his speech in good spirits.  Moments like this showed the character of their family, very deep and loving yet light hearted.

^ The cake cutting was a really sweet moment.  Emily had been very vocal that she didn’t want cake in her face, but Scott wasn’t so sure.  It was clear that neither of them was sure what would happen or wanted to make the first move, hahaha– love their expressions!!!!

Here is their “happily ever after moment” which they felt was surreal.  After all that planning, their wedding day was coming to an end, and it was just what they always wanted– after experiencing all the love and support of all of their family and friends and celebrating, it was back to just the two of them.  What an awesome feeling that was for them, so glad I could capture it!
