Cookie baking in their PJs– the real-life adventures of Tierney & Sean 😉
Tierney and Sean reached out to me looking for a photographer whose photos were unique and captured authentic moments in a creative, beautiful way. She had been researching a bit on her own and really found herself drawn to my work, when she and Sean booked their wedding with Linwood Estate and heard rave reviews from their staff about my work, it really sealed the deal for them.
Tierney & Sean are both very real, down-to-earth, open and comfortable in their own skin. They chose their home as the setting for their engagement photography and chose to wear cozy sweaters, t-shirts, and even pajamas and bare feet. The vibe they were going for? Real life.
I used their house and land surrounding it and there was plenty to work with! I like how this image is off center, it is sweet and genuine.
Tierney & Sean have the coolest story of how they met! They both worked at the local hospital and Sean had just moved to town. When Tierney saw him, she was floored, recalling “He was the handsomest man I’d ever seen!”
Their patient, an elderly woman noticed a spark and the fact that Sean was new and Tierney wasn’t. She decided to play match maker. “My nurse is from Danville and I know you are new here. Give her your number and she’ll show you around!” 😉
It worked! Every anniversary they think of AJJ (abbreviated to protect privacy) and wish that she knew how much she changed their lives for the better during that brief moment of kindness.
Sean’s birthday card from Tierney said, “There’s romance and red roses kind of love, then there’s real love. The “you put the dishes away and I’ll pick the movie” kind of love. I’m so glad we have both.”
They had just moved in and at first they were concerned that an empty house wouldn’t photograph well, but I told them I thought it’d be great. Even having a bunch of boxes would be awesome and really document these beginning stages in their lives.
I think there is something really cool about this photograph. It was captured in the (completely empty) nursery. It is so sweet, intimate and authentic. You can almost feel the connection that they have and it is beautiful. I can imagine them looking back at this photos in years to come when the nursery is not so empty ;).
Enters Enzo: Tierney & Seans’ cat who can apparently sense cuddling and needs to join in. He creeps in ever so slowly finding Tierneys toe, hahaha!
I wanted to draw all of the attention to Enzo, so I cropped accordingly using negative space that is empty and soft…
Tierney explained. “Enzo is an Abyssinian who has become our little shadow. He is boarderline obsessed with Sean!!!” Cat kisses…
I mentioned cookies and you are probably wondering when we will get to the cookie making… now!
Sean & Tierney are both so affectionate. I liked the way he held her wrists as she played with the flour… I also liked to show off her ring a little:
What started a pretty laid back cooking session got a little wild…
Sean’s expression here is priceless! Tierney thought she got flour in his eye, he could handle it, haha!
I love this…
Teehee a little more fun with flour…
The finished product!
What a fun pop of red nails with all of those neutrals. Again, nice ring, Tierney!
Tierney mentioned loving my silhouette photography so I knew I wanted to capture at least one during their engagement session.
This one also shows off the view of the mountain from their window and land below them.
This is one of my favorite photos from their engagement session. You can see Enzo in the window and the window light is highlighting the cozy texture of their blanket and toes. Those cozy simple pleasures…
One more silhouette of the happy couple in the doorway of home sweet home:
Tierney and Sean thank you for welcoming me into your home and for trusting me to capture your authentic “Pajamas and T-shirt” selves.
I hope these photos are just the sort of relaxed, fun, real-life engagement photos that you were looking for, and I am eagerly anticipating seeing you two again at Linwood for your wedding this fall :).
