Rainbow colors, authentic emotion, a heartfelt ceremony, and the blending of two families (one based in south-central PA and one based in Ghana, Africa) took center stage in this unique Gettysburg wedding at Hauser Hill Event Center!
Why Rhinehart Photography?
Kelly & Regi share, “We chose Rhinehart Photography because we enjoyed the style of Lisa’s photos. We both felt confident going into the day that we had a plan and really appreciated having Lisa’s help and direction at times when we needed it throughout the day.”
Getting Ready for the Hauser Hill Event Center Wedding
Kelly shares, “It was a little nerve-wracking but a lot of fun getting ready. I was happy to have my family and friends around. I felt really calm in the morning and then it suddenly felt like everything was moving so fast! The guest house was perfect for getting ready because of the unique style and separate floors for the bride and groom.”
Sister Tattoos
Kelly smiles, “It was nice to have both of my sisters around while getting ready. We have matching tattoos- three birds, one for each sister!”
Why Hauser Hill Event Center?
Kelly & Regi share, “We chose our venue because the view of the mountains was gorgeous. When we looked around and imagined the venue in fall, we fell in love with it. We especially loved the stone terrace and the view of the mountains from it. The venue and guest house were beautiful and unique.”
They continue, “One of our main concerns was inclement weather but we were able to rent a tent. The venue also had a ballroom available so we felt secure with our choice. Kelly’s mom spent the morning decorating the venue with all kinds of fall decor like pumpkins, lanterns, and gourds so everything looked so beautiful!”
Talk about a fall fairytale! How picturesque is their venue? All of the decor looked so perfect for the fall!
Regi’s Pre-Ceremony Thoughts
Regi shares, “I was mostly trying not to accidentally get a peek at Kelly while she was coming in. I am usually not superstitious but I felt like something would go wrong if I did 😂. Aside from that, I loved the view. The fall colors were coming in and I was really excited because it was even more beautiful than I had imagined.”
Let the Ceremony Begin!
I love how many people were involved in the wedding ceremony. Kelly & Regi chose the cutest flower girls and ring bearers!
Regi’s Dad is a Minister!
Regi shares, “One of my favorite parts of the wedding was that my dad and uncle got to be involved. Growing up in the church I always wanted a church wedding but since that didn’t happen I am grateful that my dad was able to be there in his capacity as a minister. ”
He laughed, “I had always planned on having him as my officiant but when I first asked him he refused. Fortunately for me, I had my mom around to convince him so he never really had a choice, haha.”
Ha!! I love that Regi’s dad was able to be their wedding officiant. Too funny that Regi’s mom had to convince his dad to do it!
A Little too Windy
Kelly laughs, “I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a windier day! While I may have looked warm during our photos and eventually people had to cover me with a blanket between pictures!”
Their ceremony was absolutely lovely and one of my favorite to photograph to date, partially because of how unique it was! I also loved the lighting as we were in the sun with an incoming storm. And how lovely are the photos of their hands?
Unity Sand Ceremony
I loved seeing this tradition done at Regi & Kelly’s wedding. The art the sand creates is so beautiful and such a memorable piece they can keep in their home to remember their wedding day! I love that both of their wedding rings and a touch of decor is shown in the picture. 🙂
The Most Supportive Wedding Party
Kelly shares, “My bridal party was made up of my siblings, nephew, close friends, and a cousin of Regi’s. Regi and I decided it wasn’t important for our wedding party to be divided by a bride or groom’s side since we share many friends and were fine with having guys and girls on both sides. I think this helped us both feel at home and supported by a strong group of friends and family.”
They Met Playing Cards!
They share, “We met the first week of college in our dorm. Kelly came into the common room to ask Regi and his friends to play a card game. We became close friends and eventually started dating.”
Their Best Qualities
Kelly shares, “The qualities I love most about Regi are his sense of humor, his kindness, and his determination. We always support each other and have tons of fun.”
Regi smiles, “The qualities I love most about Kelly are that she is loving, funny, and passionate. She is always willing to step in when others are in need and she is always willing to go the extra mile for a friend.”
A Rainbow During Gettysburg Wedding Portraits
Kelly & Regi share, “Even though the weather was a little cold and windy at first, it turned into a beautiful evening! We were so excited to have a rainbow on our wedding day and were happy we could take advantage of it.”
If I’m remembering correctly, I noticed the rainbow while we were all eating. It was such an amazing opportunity that I checked to see if they’d want to step out quick. They did! As I waited, it was literally raining on one side (catching a guest) and not raining and a rainbow on the other side.
Gettysburg Wedding Cocktail Hour
Regi shares, “One thing that made our wedding feel so special was having our family and friends so involved.”
He added, “For example, Kelly’s dad had his company do the catering so we had a lot of options when choosing our menu!”
Activities for the Kids
They share, “We love the kids in our lives and wanted to make sure the day was enjoyable for them too! Kelly’s mom planned activities to keep the kids busy during any downtime.”
How sweet and thoughtful! The kids definitely enjoyed coloring during cocktail hour.
Hauser Hill Event Center Speeches
Kelly & Regi smile, “The speeches from our family and friends brought tears to our eyes.”
Dancing in the Moonlight
Kelly shares, “Regi and I worked on our first dance for weeks. The week before the wedding we would drive to an empty parking lot at night to practice our dance with the music from the car. We really were dancing in the moonlight! Those practice sessions will always be very special to me.”
Gettysburg Wedding Traditions
Parent dances and the garter toss were next up on the list…
Anniversary Dance Winners
Kelly shares, “When we saw my grandparents win the longest couple in the anniversary dance, it made me tear up.”
She added, “We both love them and they are a great example of a loving couple.”
Hauser Hill Event Center Dancing Fun
They smile, “Ending the night dancing with our guests was the perfect end to the day. It was so fun to see everyone’s dance moves.”
I also loved seeing all of their vibrantly colored and intricately detailed dresses and beaming smiles on the dance floor!
Gettysburg Wedding Final Thoughts
Regi shares, “I was pretty excited on the wedding day but a little nervous that something would go wrong. It also started cloudy and windy and ended with a beautiful rainbow.
Kelly says, “I was really excited and thankful for everything and everyone involved. I couldn’t wait to have our first dance and celebrate with everyone.”
