Capturing candid, authentic moments of everyday family life, is just one reason I enjoy being a Lehigh Valley family photographer!
What a joy to see this family grow over the years! I first photographed Ashley and Joe’s engagement session and roughly a dozen shoots later, here we are with their growing family of 5!
Lehigh Valley Lifestyle Photographers
The great outdoors— this session really focused on photojournalism, so candid authentic moments during this hike! From racing leaves downstream to climbing trees and getting airplane rides from Dad, cuddles, and snacks for Mom. Everything felt completely natural and just really captured the outdoorsy vibe of this family.
Why the Wildlands Conservatory?
Ashley shares, “We love the Wildlands Conservancy because it’s nearby and one of our favorite spots to hang out outdoors as a family. We love walking the dogs there, hiking, playing with the kids, and just letting them explore nature and all of its natural playgrounds. It worked well for our family because we visit there often and the kids look forward to it, so we knew they would be full of smiles and ready for an afternoon of fun.”
She continues, “As you know, we have always loved being outdoors for our photo sessions and our kids love being outside as well. We wanted an outdoorsy, natural feel with vibrant fall colors. We knew the Wildlands would give us moments of peace and togetherness and show everyone’s love for each other, as well as our love of adventure and all things outdoors.”
Airplanes with Dad
Ashley smiles, “If you look back at our older photography sessions with you, I’m sure you will see a theme of airplane rides. All of the boys are adventurous and love a good thrill. From early on they look to Dad for airplane rides, flipping around, or being tossed in the air.”
Leaf Races with Lehigh Valley Family Photographer
Ashley shares, “The boys have always loved racing leaves. Sometimes they will build boats out of natural items, other times they just find the perfect leaf. It’s a simple activity, but since everything is always a contest when you have two, competitive boys so close in age, they have always gravitated towards racing them and trying to compete.”
Family Time at Wildlands Conservancy
Ashley says, “Though we spend much of our lives these days traveling for ice hockey, we have always found days like this are the best for all of us. Our kids love being out of the house. We find they are happier and have fewer arguments, and just overall we love that nature has its own playground that just lets them explore and ‘be kids.’ Our school choices, family trips, and daily adventures all focus on maximizing time outside and letting the kids explore, test their limits, and learn from nature.”
Climbing Trees at the LV Wildlands Conservancy
Ashley smiles, “Climbing trees is one of Joey’s favorite things to do and as little brothers do, Christian has followed right behind him. Joey is an expert these days at scoping out the best trees for climbing. There have been so many events where I have found him high up in the trees— neighbor’s houses, playgrounds, hockey rinks, and of course whenever we hike.”
Picnics & Play with Lehigh Valley Family Photographer
Ashley smiles, “Like most kids, the boys love water and also love to snack! They enjoy making their own snack mixes, combining their favorite ingredients.”
She laughs, “Add a couple of chocolate chips to anything and our kids will eat it, haha!” I think I’m the same way, Ashley 😉
Lehigh Valley Lifestyle Photographers: Macus Family
Ashley shares, “Caden, our newest addition, is the bright light of the family, he brings everyone smiles and joy. He’s super go-with-the-flow and easygoing. He spends his life adventuring with his brothers and longs to move and chase after them. He adores everyone and loves snuggling with mom, giggling with his brothers, and flying around with Dad.”
She continues, “Christian has a big personality— he’s sweet, funny, incredibly energetic, and always keeps us on our toes. Joey is active and emotional. He loves his brothers and a good adventure, but also feels he has to be the boss and rule maker. Joe is playful, strong, and caring. The kids look to him to be held, thrown in the air, toss a ball, or do anything mom might not let them do. Haha!
She adds, “All of them love hockey, sports, and being outside. They are full of fun and adventure and love to be anywhere but sitting at home.”
Joe adds, “Ashley is organized, selfless, and loving. She is the brains of all operations and always two steps ahead of everyone else.”
This candid, photojournalistic session captured each family member’s personality so well– I love being a Lehigh Valley Family Photographer!
