A stunning cave and garden, nuns photobombing, a beautiful balcony in downtown DC, and a bride whose parents’ love shows just what forever truly means… I truly love being a St Francis Hall DC Wedding Photographer. You will not want to miss this beautiful inspiring wedding!
Why Rhinehart Photography?
Katie shares, “Lisa heard all of our concerns in our pre-wedding day conversations. It was important to us that the day be easy-going and Lisa ensured that it was. It was like having a friend around while I was getting ready in the room with my girls and then POOF…as soon as the ceremony began, it seemed like suddenly it was party time and Lisa ensured she got the photos, but somehow we barely even knew she was there. I’m so grateful that Edward from St Francis recommended Lisa to work with. We couldn’t have been more delighted with our choice!”
Sean adds, “Lisa was so easygoing. She was great about giving direction while also letting us just be together and enjoy the day. It was definitely hot and we were definitely sweating and Lisa was quick to get the photos and give us breaks when needed.”
Geography 101: Katie + Sean
Katie says, “Lisa had a creative idea for our ring photos, we used all three to circle significant places in our relationship on the globe. Denver (where we met and where Sean grew up), DC (where we wed and lived for 3.5 years to help out with my mom), and Duck, NC (where we got engaged).
Preparations: Mayflower Hotel Wedding Preparations
Sean and his groomsmen looked so dapper and the ladies were stunning and so much fun to be around!
Katie smiles, “Mary Leppert, one of my best friends and bridesmaid, is the co-owner of Metalmark Fine Jewelry. She was generous enough to adorn me all weekend in her beautiful and unique pieces from her store!” Look at how gorgeous and unique this jewelry is!
Mayflower Hotel Wedding Photographer
I loved photographing inside the Mayflower Hotel in DC— there was so much to work with creatively. The balcony shots were especially stunning!
Katie says, “The entirety of our wedding guest list was comprised of out-of-towners (minus my parents and sister), so we knew we wanted a special place for them to stay. After looking at ELEVEN hotels, The Mayflower spoke to us the same way our venue did – that hallway, I knew would be insane for photos. Add to that the history of the hotel itself, and I knew we had something special!”
Heading to St Francis Hall
I make sure to get a good mix of creative and candid photos throughout the day. When you guys are enjoying your friends and moving from point A to point B, I can capture fun candids. When we arrive, I can get a couple of more traditional photos. With a couple being so hot I made sure to move quickly and still get genuine smiles :).
Sister Sister: OMG my favorite Moment!!
Bumping into nuns was probably one of my favorite parts of Katie & Sean’s day!
Going to the Chapel:
Katie smiles, “There is no one more thoughtful, big-hearted, or loyal than my Seanie. He loves deeply and truly cares about those who are important in his life, willing to ensure always that they are cared for and happy. I feel lucky to have landed him!“
Sean says, “Katie is always proactive to set us up for success while being incredibly thoughtful of everyone around us to always show appreciation and a genuine willingness to help when needed.”
Katie adds, “Having Jeremy, Sean’s brother, officiate our ceremony was so special!”
Mom’s Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
Katie shares, “My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Sean suggested we move to DC, to be with my family. My mom being a part of the wedding was a non-negotiable. I still tear up thinking about how excited I know she would have been for us, having her at the ceremony will forever be cherished memories.”
She continues, “As I said in my vows, she gave her blessing while she still could. Prior to our engagement, while Mom was still able to communicate, she never failed to tell Sean how wonderful he was and how much she loved him – she gave her approval when she could and she was able to do so because Sean makes it so damn easy to love him.”
St Francis Hall DC Wedding Reception
Katie smiles, “After seeing a few venues, I just knew when I first walked into St Francis Hall. The wood beams, shiny wood floors, brick archways, and the lighting. It was like Hogwarts was hosting its first wedding and I could feel the magic. I shared photos with Sean, who was home in Colorado when I had the site visit, and he felt the same about the space.”
Getting the Party Started: Best DC Photographer
Katie and Sean’s friends and family were so freaking fun! I mean look at this party!
