Horses aren’t just animals; they’re family— as an Equestrian Family Photographer, I fully understand this both personally and professionally. There’s nothing like being in their presence, feeling their energy, and witnessing the deep connection between a horse and its person. My passion? Capturing stories, emotions, and bonds with these incredible animals—the quiet barn moments, the full-speed gallops, and everything in between. I want you to feel the love, personality, and pure joy in each image, all in vibrant color! These are not just portraits, but storytelling, photojournalism:
Horsing Around
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about photographing horses, it’s this: you have to be quick on your feet and ready for anything. Horses have their own agenda, and that’s what makes them so fun to work with! I don’t just snap pictures—I embrace the chaos, the laughter, and the unexpected to create images that feel natural and full of life. Whether I’m adjusting my angle to get the perfect light, crouching in the dirt for a unique shot, or running alongside a horse to capture movement, I make sure every session feels effortless and fully captures all of the unique personalities present!
Equestrian Lifestyle Photography
Equestrian photography isn’t just about looking like a rider—it’s about telling your story. It’s about the way your horse greets you at the gate, the gentle nuzzle when you least expect it, or the sheer freedom of riding through an open field. Whether you show, trail ride, or just spend your evenings at the barn, I photograph the moments that feel like home.
I also love incorporating the textures, tones, and natural beauty of the equestrian world—leather reins, golden-hour fields, and earthy barn wood, sunlight passing through trees—giving your photos that timeless, polished yet a natural, organic feel.
Kids & Their Horses
There’s something extra special about kids and their ponies—the way they whisper secrets in their ears, the giggles when a horse nibbles their sleeve, the little moments of pure childhood magic. One of my favorite sessions featured a sweet girl braiding her horse’s mane, then holding it up in the front to make it look like a unicorn horn. It was one of those moments that was so pure, creative, and joy-filled that I knew instantly it needed to be captured forever!
Equestrian Family Photographer: Ears Up!
Every equestrian knows: a great horse portrait needs the ears up! I totally get it— horses tend to look their best when they are conveying the fully alert and engaged “ears up” stance! That’s why I come prepared with a few tricks up my sleeve (and a good sense of humor) to get those ears forward.
When you book me for an equestrian session, I always recommend bringing a friend, a family member, or a barn buddy to help grab your horse’s attention!
From the Horse’s Mouth
I could go on forever about how much I love what I do, but my clients say it best:
Louise shares:
“Working with Lisa was amazing! She was so good with horses and captured their personalities and the fall colors so beautifully. I normally hate getting photos taken of myself, but Lisa made me feel so comfortable in front of her camera.”
“Lisa surprised me with just how comfortable she was around horses! Looking at the photos, you can see her flexibility!”
“I love how she was able to capture the personalities of my horses in the photos.”
