Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding: Victoria & Amritpal
Oh my goodness, wait until you see the dance floor — money flying, Bollywood choreography, and a celebration that literally lifted the bride and groom in the air! This Renovated Palace at Somerset Park wedding showcases everything I love about photographing vibrant Sikh weddings.
Before we get to the nightlife, let’s start with the stunning Palace gardens and these two in *pink*!!!
I wanted to show the stunning exterior of The Palace at Somerset Park, the vibrant blue skies, the garden, and how lovely the pink and white flowers complemented Amro and Victoria’s attire, while showing their unity and affection for each otherThis was just capturing the genuine emotion in the moment with totally different lighting, in the shade, surrounded by a garden. I am here to capture it all!
Why Rhinehart Photography?
Victoria says, “Lisa is so fun and approachable; her excitement and support are palpable throughout the day!”
Amritpal adds, “Lisa and her partner, Kris, did a great job navigating the personalities involved in a large event, including family members. Oftentimes, photographers are pulled in many directions by those with even the best of intentions. Lisa was able to handle that while executing our vision and plan for how we wanted our big day captured.”
I liked how these two really popped against the shadow as they practiced their entrance dance, with the banana plants in the background and the colorful flowers that matched their attire!
Preparations: Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding
Playing with shadow again, and using my sharpest macro lens, I really wanted the diamond to pop against the darkness! Here, Amro’s sister and mom assist Victoria with her attire… I love the Palace’s renovated dressing rooms! They are so much lighter and brighter.
Twin Sisters: Literally!
Victoria talks about her bond with her twin sister, “We have done everything in life together, including college, grad school, and work. When we finally moved apart after 30 years together, that was really difficult. But we still see each other very frequently and talk all day, every day. It meant so much to have her there for the whole week, and she was very attentive to my needs!”
“Apart from Amro, no one knows me better, and it’s true she can practically read my mind and my needs at times!”
Victoria’s twin sister, Samantha, helps her into her wedding gown for a second time. Yes, a second time! I photographed the first one as well; you can take a look here.
The Photographic Boost of Confidence She Needed
Victoria shares, “Lisa is so kind and able to address the worries I had directly, and made me feel so comfortable. I was having anxiety about how I looked. She showed me a preview of one of the photos she took, and my anxiety went away. She is able to make you feel beautiful and special!”
Playing with Shadow, Light, Textures, Patterns and Color– so fun!!
All of these materials were an absolute dream for me to work with as a photographer. I loved the beaded dress, the silk straps, and, of course, the intense shadow was coming through the window!
Amro in the Garden: Palace at Somerset Park Photography
Here, Amro is waiting before the first look. I love everything about this shot! Shoutout to my second photographer, Kris, who really caught such a vibe here!Again, wow, the pink flowers appearing through the leaves in the garden just stunning! Excellent job, Kris! It is nice to have two photographers on the wedding day. One can be with the bride, one can be with the groom, and it makes for thorough coverage that is also efficient.
Victoria at the Columns: Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding
I have so many stunning photos of Victoria, I just couldn’t stop photographing her! Here, she leans against the Palace columns.Again, I really played up the tropical plants in the background. She probably didn’t realize I was doing this, but throughout the day, when I placed her in different locations, this was at the forefront of my mind. The way the light was passing through the leaves here really caught my eye.
First Look: Palace at Somerset Park Photographers
They share, “We enjoyed taking our first look photos outside near the garden that also had pink flowers that matched our color scheme for our outfits!”
The classic tap on the shoulder... I wanted to show the columns, the garden, and the plants (you’ll notice greenery and pink flowers). His expression says it all! His beaming smile is everything!Oh my goodness, and her eyes and smile too… And what about that necklace? I have never seen a bride in pink before. I must say, from her dress and jewelry to his turban, these two looked amazing. Even check out the detail on his jacket! Their outfits are from Nazranaa!
All the Love
These two are some of the very kindest people I’ve worked with. Intelligent, down-to-earth, and so thoughtful. I am so grateful they had two weddings and had me there for both. 🥰 I couldn’t have been happier.
Why the Palace at Somerset Park?
They share, “We loved the high ceilings of the Palace and the grandness of it. We also were hoping for good weather, which ended up being the case with a gorgeous, not humid August day that allowed our guests to enjoy the beautiful grounds as well. We wanted a place that could host a potentially HUGE guest list without sacrificing the quality of guest experience.”
Here we are on the upper terrace. The Palace is so light, bright, and beautiful! Here we are down on the ground level again. Check out these banana leaves and the pink and white flowers in the garden. We were shooting during the brightest point of the day, which can be quite a challenge, but I’m really happy with how these photos turned out.
V+A = Dream team!
Amritpal shares, “When looking back on our day, I have a great sense of pride for what Victoria and I accomplished in putting our week together and helping things run smoothly. Our trusted teamwork is a hallmark of our relationship, and our wedding week festivities are a great example of what we can do as two dedicated, thoughtful, and detail-oriented people. We bring this energy to our relationship and other parts of our lives (we plan amazing vacations together!)”
“We truly deserve each other in the best way.”
Check out the pink and white flowers above them! The whole garden goes so perfectly with their aesthetic, and here they are practicing their special dance. These gardens are everything– check out the banana plants again! I can’t stress enough how much I love them and their emerald green color. 😍Oh my goodness, the way her dress flowed and spun right down to the tassels on her back. I felt the dress myself, it is so heavy. I don’t know how tiny Victoria did it; she is a strong woman! Inside and out ☺️
The Ceremony: Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding Photography
The florist, A Touch of Elegance, did an incredible job as always! Look how perfectly the roses match their colors, and how the organic feel with the circle framing them so perfectly… I really wanted to show them surrounded by family and friends as well. Their amazing officiant is Journeys of the Heart! The floral colors are incredible —check out Amro’s sister in the background! Her outfit perfectly complements the color palette.Victoria’s beaming smile as she slides the wedding band on Amro. I framed her in the door frame behind her and showed some of the flowers peeking out over my shoulder.
The Guests: What a stunning color palette!
I am absolutely obsessed with this color palette. I have photographed many Indian weddings in the past, and this is the first time I’ve seen these pastel tones embraced… I think they’re so lovely and still incredibly vibrant and beautiful!
The Kiss: Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding Photography
The intricate beating and details on her wedding gown were just stunning. If you look closely, you can even see a little tiny embroidered mirror!
Group Photos: Yay or Nay?
Yay, of course! I take a ton of photos, and I don’t blog many of them, but they are in the full gallery! Their friends were so much fun!
Amro & Victoria’s Love Story
Victoria shares, “Amrit makes me feel so safe and secure, and so wholeheartedly loved. We put so much time and effort into our wedding and worked so well as a team, and we really felt that work paid off based on our amazing vendors and the smoothness of the day. I loved experiencing the blending of cultures with our guests expressed through the outfits, food, and music as well.”
Amritpal says, “I am so proud of all of the work that Victoria put in to planning and putting together our wedding day. I am thankful for everything she did that allowed us to enjoy our day and focus on the important things, like the love we share with each other and support from our family and friends.”
Here is the start of golden hour coming through the trees from the upper level of the Palace.
Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Ballroom Wedding Photography
The Palace at Somerset Parks renovated ballroom is nothing short of jaw-dropping! Now, the white on the outside matches the white on the inside! It is a beautiful blank slate for any color palette!
Sunset & an Outfit Change!
Victoria and Amro share, “We loved taking sunset photos on the balcony!”
Did you notice the outfit change? Take a closer look at Victoria’s stunning white dress… The orange sunset seems to complement it perfectly, especially with her change to the red bangles. These two had so much fun. I’m happy they got the golden hour and sunset photos they wanted!
For the First Time as Mr & Mrs
I wanted to show the chandeliers, their shadows, the beautiful ceiling, wallpaper, the couple, and of course, their friends and family, all cheering and surrounding them. Here, I wanted to show the chandeliers and the couple surrounded by loved ones on the white dance floor, and also capture the foyer as well… I quickly climbed up the stairs to achieve this lol! It’s important for me not just to capture the couple, but the guests too. I love capturing candid moments like this.
Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding Photography: Traditions
Victoria says, “I feel lucky to have both my parents present, and I love having them both by my side, as they have been through my whole life. I could not imagine the day without them!”
Candid moments from the father-daughter dance. I love their expressions here.Candid moments from the mother-daughter dance, too! A lovely edition and again so much joy.Sibling roast, I mean toast 🙂 I love seeing the family resemblance in these two, and to capture the joy on their facesOh my goodness, I loved Victoria’s sister! They are definitely twins and the spitting image of each other, but her heart goes so deep —and so does her speech, as you can tell from Victoria’s face! Here I framed her sister in the curtains and column and made sure to get just the right angle to show guests in the background, the head table, and wine glasses raised as Victoria wiped a tear from her cheek
Cousin Bollywood Dance!
This was another great time to have two photographers. We could be at different angles on the dance floor and be ready for anything— even this leg raising! Very bold with tight pants, and he pulled it off incredibly! The women were simply amazing as well. With two photographers we were able to capture two different angles, simultaneously, which really helps to tell the whole story.
Victoria & Amritpal’s Dance: Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding Photography
It went off without a hitch, just like they practiced!
Dolla Dolla Bills: More traditions
Smart girls! Lol, these flower girls were so adorable and definitely in the moment!
Packed Dance Floor: Capturing Color and Personality
Victoria and Amro share, “We carefully considered the guest experience every step of the way, so we are so happy that our vision came to life as a fun party! We will never forget the emotional moments full of love between each other and our families. But we know that people are there tohave fun! Our DJ (MVPDJs), the dancefloor, the dhol drummer, and emphasis on letting loose were what we wanted to make it a memorable time for our guests, beyond ourselves.”
Here I ran up to the balcony to capture just how packed the dance floor was. Again, I wanted to capture the chandeliers, the packed dance floor, and the stunning marble tile in the foyer just outside of the dance floor. His mustache, his turban, his bold hands, and the person clapping for him… It doesn’t get much better than this!Oh my goodness, she was an absolute favorite of mine! She was all in, yes, girl!Talk about all in, but this time in blue and green… I really put myself in the thick of the crowd to get these shots, and I am so happy with how they turned outThere was so much joy, and everyone wanted to play along! It was fun for me to work with such vibrant colors on the dance floor, too. Check out how the background is blue, but the foreground is green! It is really fun but also very challenging to capture. I’m so proud of the colors I captured on the dance floor, especially with a culture that loves color.
Capturing Play and Fun on the Dance Floor
Money continued to fly around throughout the evening. It was so so fun… I love the expressions, both in their bodies and their faces, and of course, capturing dollar bills flying! No,this isn’t Photoshop. This was captured in camera! My girl is back! And this time with the drummer. He was so awesome, by the way! My assistant, Kris, carried a light and illuminated the peopleI pointed to at just the right angle and at just the right time, helping me capture this image.
Literal Chair Raising! Best Renovated Palace at Somerset Park Wedding Photography
All the hands, all the chairs, and some red turbans in the midst as well! I love how calm and confident Amro is here! This is just so him! That’s when they raised Victoria up too– OMG the look on her face says it all! What a moment!
Dhol Drums and Dancing
Here, Amro’s sister and brother-in-law join in the fun, along with a few other wedding guests. I liked framing one couple with the other. I liked how the red tassels matched his red hair and all the blue and green in everyone’s detailed attire, as well as the background.I couldn’t believe the flower girls were still going! I am always up for catching motion and emotion, and I love how respectful everyone was. They seemed to give her enough room so she could be comfortable without feeling overwhelmed by the crowd.
Amro & Victoria Letting Loose
Oh my goodness, Amro and hip-hop — so incredibly fun. I framed him in the foreground, with the column still visible in the background, and illuminated Victoria in her white gown as well… This was a lot of communication between Kris and me to get the shot looking the way it does.I played with different lenses as I tried to capture the way the dance floor felt. Here, I used a wide-angle lens that really showed how packed it was and how Victoria really held everyone’s attention! Here, I used a slower shutter speed to capture the movement and almost give a tipsy feeling, while still trying to freeze the dollar bills floating in the air. Again, I did not Photoshop this; it is authentically real.More vibrant color, and tipsy lighting. This time, I framed Amro with several wedding guests, including a couple. I love how the lights are red and there are two women in reddish-toned dresses in the foreground and background simultaneously.
Capturing Movement and that “Tipsy” Dance Floor Feeling
Here I really went all out with that tipsy dance floor feeling, and I love the results. The slow shutter, rocking back-and-forth, the flash, freezing key movements, and emotion.Yes! Freezing his face, hers, Victoria, and several other guests, as well as giving that vibrant feeling. Just what I was going for!Amro’s dancing was pretty freaking cool, and I loved getting the chance to see him out there again, trying to capture what the vibe felt like
Reflections at the End of the Night
Victoria and Amritpal share, “We are just so glad to incorporate all the things that were important to us and our family within one big celebration. Each of those pieces were thoughtfully considered for what they mean to us or what we imagined we wanted our celebration to be like. The Indian clothing, music, and dancing were all ways to help bring our families together. We even considered how much may be too much, or inappropriate/disingenuous, but we’re very happy with how everything turned out.”
I want to show the packed dance floor, the joy and love surrounding them, and of course, the dollar dollar bills
A Photo with Everyone in it!
They share, “We wanted a venue that could host a potentially HUGE guest list without sacrificing the quality of guest experience.”
They had a special request for me; they had a lot of guests, but we’re hoping to get one photo with all of them in it. I said, I thought this was possible, climbed back up to the balcony, and made it happen here!
