NJ Proposal Photographer: Dayna & Nicolai

  • April 29, 2026

As a NJ proposal photographer, there’s something really special about getting to revisit a proposal—especially when it already meant so much the first time.

Dayna & Nicolai didn’t just want engagement photos at Frelinghuysen Arboretum. They wanted to relive a moment that changed everything… and capture it in a way that felt natural, candid, and completely true to their story.

Two people stand close together at Frelinghuysen Arboretum under a large, bare tree with twisting branches, looking up. Captured by a candid engagement NJ photographer, the low-angle photo highlights the dramatic curves and texture of the tree against a pale sky.

Why They Chose Rhinehart Photography

When Dayna reached out, she already knew what she was looking for: someone who could document their connection in a real, unposed way.

Dayna shares, “I searched high and low for you. I really wanted someone who was going to capture the range of emotion rather than force us into any poses or settings.”

That’s always my goal as a NJ engagement photographer—to create an experience where you feel comfortable enough to just be yourselves, while I capture everything as it naturally unfolds.

“I loved how you saw the light and worked with it to shape or bring out a moment. You remembered our details and really focused on them.”

Those little details are what turn a session into a story.

A man lifts a smiling woman onto his shoulder outdoors on a winter day, with snow on the ground and soft sunlight shining through trees—a joyful moment beautifully captured by an NJ proposal photographer at Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown.

Their Love Story: Falling Fast & Feeling at Home

Some relationships take time. Theirs didn’t.

Dayna shares, “I fell in love with Nicolai early and fast. He has this playful energy that brings adventure and fun, but also such a sweet side.”

But more than anything, it’s how they feel together that defines their relationship.

Dayna smiles, “I feel warm, happy, and at ease with him. I can just rest into him.”

That sense of comfort—the kind that makes everything feel effortless—is what makes for the most authentic, story-driven engagement photos.

Nicolai adds, “I’m extremely confident that we can get through any challenge together.”

Frelinghuysen Arboretum: The Perfect Place for a NJ Proposal

Some locations are beautiful. Others are meaningful. For Dayna & Nicolai, Frelinghuysen Arboretum was both.

Dayna shares, “We shared some really special moments there early on. We love walking and spending time together—it just became our place.”

Nicolai says, “She showed me the arboretum and it absolutely blew my mind. I knew it was the perfect place to propose.”

NJ Winter Engagement Photographer

People often hesitate when scheduling a winter engagement photography session, but I feel like this vibe is so perfect! It’s cozy, cuddly, fun, and playful. They have a blanket of beautiful white snow…

When we returned to the arboretum, it felt like stepping right back into that moment—just with a little winter magic layered in. Fresh snow on the ground. Soft, glowing light. And that natural instinct to stay close.

Dayna & Nicolai leaned into it effortlessly. Warming their hands together. Wrapped up in a blanket. Cuddled in, laughing, and completely in their own world.

It felt easy. Comfortable. Exactly like them.

Dayna shares, “I’m always moved by the range we have—from laughing to really feeling into our love.”

And you could see that entire range here—from playful moments to the quiet, deeper ones.

Reliving the Proposal

As the light faded and the evening settled in, everything slowed down just a bit. And then—quietly—the moon began to rise in the distance.

Subtle. Steady. The kind of detail you don’t plan, but somehow fits perfectly into the moment.

Dayna shares, “I’m going to love this man forever. I love the way he supports me and helps me grow. I know we can get through anything together.”

From a thoughtful scavenger hunt… to a snowy evening wrapped up together… This wasn’t just a proposal. It was a story worth reliving.

Feels Like We’ve Known Each Other Our Whole Lives

There’s something about their connection that just feels familiar—like it’s always been there.

As the sun set and the moon started to rise through the treetops, they leaned into each other, completely at ease. The letter from the proposal still tucked in Nicolai’s pocket—a quiet reminder of how it all began.

Nicolai shares, “It feels like we’ve known each other our whole lives. Like we’ve been together in past lives.”

And honestly… you believe it when you’re around them.
