Central Pennsylvania Graduation Photographer: Nicole

Congrats to Nicole — a Com-Journ major at Shippensburg University, now “Media Trained” and ready for the world! From cap and gown moments taking a final stroll on campus to LinkedIn headshots, I love being a Central Pennsylvania graduation photographer!

Why choose Rhinehart Photography as your Central Pennsylvania graduation photographer?

Nicole shares, “I chose Lisa to be my photographer for senior photos because I appreciated how her work captured more than just the subject’s appearance.  She has a talent for incorporating her subject’s personality and interests into her photos without making it the focal point of the shoot. Her work is clean and professional, yet fun and enticing.”

“At the beginning of the session, I was feeling slightly nervous about posing in front of a stranger. But the way Lisa conducted the photoshoot quickly put me at ease. She was incredibly kind and supportive throughout the entirety of our time together, and made taking photos feel like the most natural thing in the world.”

She continues, “I was so grateful when Lisa provided the opportunity to look through the photos together at the end of the shoot. I have a tendency to be particular about my photos, so it was a complete relief when Lisa allowed me to take part in this process with her.”

Roland Hall is one of Nicole’s favorite buildings on campus — home to her Communication and Journalism classes. I had fun getting creative with this shot, capturing the professors’ names and offices reflected in the glass.

Why Shippensburg University?

Nicole says, “Initially, Shippensburg University caught my attention because of its unique dorm layouts. Of all the colleges I considered, none of them addressed independent living as thoroughly as Shippensburg. However, as enticing as the dorms were, what truly pushed me to choose Shippensburg University over other schools was the professors’ attitudes toward educating their students. Professors seemed to be genuinely invested in their students’ success outside of the classroom.”

I’ve been using a slow shutter speed to capture movement for over a decade. Now that it’s “trending” I made sure to capture Nicole spinning in front of Old Main. I love the structured and linear nature of Old Main paired with the softness of Nicole’s movement here.

Media Trained: Communications Journalism

Nicole explains, “‘Media trained’ is a common phrase in the media industry that references the PR training many celebrities and athletes go through before they’re allowed to speak to the press. To ensure that these celebrities are prepared for whatever questions reporters may ask, their PR team will instruct them on the best practices for navigating a difficult conversation.”

“Public Relations is all about knowing how to craft the right message for your audience. That’s why I felt this phrase perfectly reflected my education in the Communication, Journalism and Media (CJM) department.”

Passage of time & Payoff from Hard Work

Nicole smiles, “Graduating from college is something I’ve worked toward my entire life, so having now accomplished it is unreal. To see all the late nights and study sessions pay off is beyond rewarding.

The clock on campus felt like the perfect backdrop to convey the passage of time, and having Nicole look back with confidence just said it all– congratulations, girl!

Looking Out into the Future: Creative Graduation Photographer

Nicole says, “My time at Shippensburg University has provided me with so many unforgettable experiences. Getting dinner with friends and participating in various on-campus activities are just a few of the fond memories that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.”

A silhouette of a person stands under an archway, gazing at a cloudy evening sky and distant buildings—perfect inspiration for Shippensburg University senior photos by a Central PA senior photographer.
I love playing with silhouettes, and the twilight here did something magical, making her eyelashes pop and kissing the curve of her cheek. The cloudy sky feels almost symbolic of the big unknown that lies ahead. There is so much excitement in this moment, but also uncertainty, and capturing all sides and emotions of my subjects is something I’m intentional about.

Getting Crafty: Bedazzled Graduation Cap

Nicole smiles, “I have loved crafting for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, I was always creating something new to display around the house. As I got older, I started to drift more toward functional crafts that I could either use or wear.”

Self-expression through creative outlets has always been a non-negotiable in my life, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t creating things that I would never touch again. That’s why jewelry making and bedazzling became my go-to crafts. I was able to get the joy of creating something without worrying about what I was going to do with it once I was done.”

Mona Lisa?!? I love seeing so many different sides of Nicole through her Central PA senior portrait session. This one exudes confidence and with that smile, she is totally giving me Mona Lisa vibes!

LinkedIn: Some professional graduation headshots, too

Nicole shares, “LinkedIn is such a relevant tool in today’s job market. Getting a proper headshot for the platform felt essential.”

I gave Nicole several options to use as her profile portrait for LinkedIn. I love how confident she appears in this one. Yes, she is a new grad, but it feels like she really knows her stuff!  I think this is key in her field!

Wow, so on Target, I had to do a double take!

Nicole says, “Old Main is a building that feels synonymous with Shippensburg University itself. With its historic architecture and iconic fountain, it stands as the focal point of the campus. Whenever I would walk by it on my way to my CJM classes at Rowland — especially during the spring when everything’s blooming — I would feel a sense of school pride. It brought me joy that the two most important buildings to me on campus, Rowland and Old Main, were directly across from each other.”

A graduate in a blue gown celebrates by tossing her cap into the air while crossing a street, capturing the joy of Shippensburg University Senior Photos in front of a classic brick building.
I envisioned lining Nicole up perfectly and having this College Athlete throw her cap straight up, and dang, we nailed it!  I’ve been a Central Pennsylvania Graduation Photographer for over a decade, but this is the first time I have ever hit a bullseye like this so perfectly!  Go team!
