Julianna shares, “From the very beginning of our wedding planning we knew there were two must-haves: a great DJ and an amazing photographer. Luckily we found both! Our venue raved about Lisa’s work and told us to book her ASAP. We took a peak at her work and were blown away!  I’m a very sentimental person and photographs are so important to me, and I could tell from Lisa’s work that she understood that.”

She continues, “I love that Lisa captures the raw moments in such creative ways. Lisa was so helpful and communicative throughout the entire process and took the time to meet with us as a couple and learn our priorities for the big day. She even went above and beyond and made a wedding day itinerary! On our wedding day, she made me feel so comfortable and confident.”

Julianna smiles,  “I really felt like Lisa was another bridesmaid singing along to Taylor Swift with us! I’m hoping Lisa was able to capture not only the love between Drew and I, but between us and our bridal party, family, and everyone who attended. Capturing our people are so important to us!”

Drew adds, “Working with Lisa on the wedding day was a dream, she was fantastic at getting the perfect shots that we’ll look back on forever. Kelly, the second photographer, did a great job at wrangling the groomsmen to get together for photos too! She was able to capture the groomsmen’s personalities and the in-between times which will be so special to have to remember this day”

As far as creative photography, I was always pushing the envelope from interesting perspectives, to reflections to intense lighting and vibrant colors, I was on it!

Julianna’s Country Club of York Wedding Transformation!!

Julianna’s dress was incredible– jaw-droppingly stunning!!  Just check out the train!  And as far as personality she is such a wonderful, kind human being!

Drew smiles, “Julianna is such a caring and sweet person with the kindest heart and it’s something I admire most about her.  Whether it’s an emotional storyline in a commercial or seeing a cute dog on the street she has so much love in her heart to give.” 

Stunning (and helpful) Bridesmaids!

Julianna says, “My bridesmaids were so incredibly helpful on the wedding day and all the days leading up to it! I’m not surprised, though, because they’re the best group of girls I know. It was so much fun to have my favorite people from different parts of my life all come together. They bonded so well and have genuinely become friends with each other, which I love so much.”

Drew laughs, “I was looking forward to having photos on the golf course, then I realized the pressure of having to make a putt in front of all these people.” 

It’s a Family Affair

Country Club of York Wedding “First Look Alternative”!!

Julianna smiles, “I just felt so lucky on our wedding day! My younger-self would be absolutely over-the-moon to know that she married her dream guy (he did exist, after all!) in her dress from Kleinfeld’s, surrounded by the best friends and family she could imagine. I was just overwhelmed with happiness.”

Drew laughs, “The range of emotions on our wedding day was something I didn’t expect.  From just sitting around with the groomsmen in the morning and being goofy to reading my vows to Julianna and melting into a blubbering mess to standing up in front of all my friends and family at the church, we experienced so many emotions on our wedding day!”  

I was so glad to capture them!!

Here Comes the Bride!!

When Julianna was on her way to catch the limo and head to the church with her bridesmaids I saw the way her veil and dress contrasted against the red runner and changed to my widest lens and backed full against the door to get this shot… and wait until you see Drew’s face!!

 

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Wedding Ceremony

Julianna shares, “I think I mentioned this earlier, but I’m a super sentimental person. We chose to do our ceremony at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church because it’s the church I attended as a kid. I’ve known the pastor and organist for 20+ years. It’s just a bonus that the sanctuary is beautiful and Stan and Victor are great at their jobs!”

Drew says, “I loved having Ethan and Connor be a part of the big day as the ringbearers. They did such a great job! The two really showed up in the bright lights (the rings got on the fingers which is all that matters).”  

I’m so happy shooting!!

Julianna was serious when she said I was singing along to Taylor Swift and “all in” all day long.  Sometimes that means gathering people for group photos, sometimes that means quietly fading into the background.  I often switch between soaking in all the emotion so that I can capture it, and doing the math and placing lights for the perfect capture.

Just look at this stunning Country Club of York Wedding Party!  I love when brides choose colors that compliment their season, venue, and personalities!  This was the perfect color for Juliana!

 

JMU Connections & Head over heels from the start!

Julianna shares, “It was the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2019 – I got on Hinge and noticed Drew had “liked” me. I checked out his profile and noticed that one of his friends was in my classes at JMU. I did some more research and found that we had a handful of mutual friends. We also were both in JMU’s College of Business at the same time…but we had never met!

She continues, “We got to talking and communicated via daily texts and one FaceTime before I made a 3.5-hour trip to Charlottesville to meet him in person in January of 2020. We hit it off immediately and ended up spending quarantine together before moving in together and getting engaged. It sounds cliche, but I knew Drew was different before we had even met in person. He was so interested in what I had to say and always provided such thoughtful responses, and I’ve never had to question how he felt.” 

Drew adds, “After texting back and forth for a month or so, when we finally met in person. I knew she was something special.  I remember texting a friend when she went to use the restroom during lunch and I said how I was already head over heels. It came from us having just the right amount of similarities and differences to make us the perfect fit for each other.”  

With a Little Luck…

They continue reminiscing about their first meeting, “I think the most unique part of us as a couple is that we went both went to JMU, in the College of Business and graduated the same year but had never run into each other. We had been to the same parties, stood in the same lobbies, heard each other’s names called at graduation…and ended up meeting on an application while living four hours away from each other!”

Exploring the Country Club of York Grounds

Julianna shares, “We chose the Country Club of York as our reception space because we really wanted a classic and timeless venue. We love that the Club is traditional but also has such a unique look to it! And the landscaping is absolutely beautiful in the spring. I grew up coming here as a kid – to swim, have dinner with family and friends, and take pictures before school dances. It held that emotional value for me, too.”

Drew adds, “The Country Club was the perfect venue to have a wedding! If you were blindfolded on the drive there you would think you’re in Tuscany! While I didn’t grow up in York, knowing we were able to spend this beautiful day in places that mean so much to Julianna made it even more special for me.”

Julianna says, “Our goal for the reception was to make sure that the dance floor was always busy, and I definitely think we succeeded! We started the dancing with a JMU alumni group picture with our school flag and that really got the party going.”

Drew says, “Our first dance was so much fun, and in that moment I knew that the lessons paid off – the people love Ms. Swift!”  

 

Insider Tip, How to Pack the Dance Floor

Julianna says, “Our goal for Country Club of York Wedding Reception was to make sure that the dance floor was always packed, and I definitely think we succeeded!”

I”We started the dancing with a JMU alumni group picture with our school flag and that really got the party going.”

Drew smiles, “The dance floor was exactly what I hoped. I knew my friends could really bring it and they sure did.  Lisa and Kelly were like Olympic athletes ducking and diving to get the perfect shots on the floor.”

The Party Kept Going Strong!!

Drew says, “When planning the wedding out we were nervous there wouldn’t be enough time to dance. At the end of the night, I think I would’ve passed out from exhaustion if there was any more dancing, haha! A total sign of a successful party!”

Julianna shares, “It was such a magical moment to end the night on the dance floor with my favorite people and my new husband singing and dancing to Love Story.”

And just b/c Juliet and Julianna are so similar…

Drew smiles, “The end of the night truly felt surreal. After such a packed day filled with every emotion it was wild to FINALLY get to call Julianna my wife.”
