Why Rhinehart Photography?

Jenna shares, “I’ve been following Lisa on Facebook for a few years now and always looked forward to seeing her posts and what creative, interesting perspectives she came up with. I was especially captivated by some of the candid moments she’s shot, and it felt like you captured some of the “typical wedding moments” but with a different angle, focus, or lighting than what I’ve seen before. Your photos always just feel so unique!

She continues, “When Jimmy and I got engaged we wanted to prioritize choosing the venue and photographer that we liked the best. We have no experience with professional photos, so we wanted to be able to treasure our wedding photos since we knew we would want to display them. We didn’t want to have a videographer, so we fully relied on Lisa to capture our day!

Jimmy says, “Jenna was the one leading the looking for photographers, and when she shared with me some samples of Lisa’s work, I knew she would fit exactly what we were looking for.”

Jenna adds, “I’m so glad we had engagement photos done, and it was a great way to check out some interesting spots at our wedding venue. It made us so much more comfortable seeing Lisa again on the wedding day and we already had some familiarity with everything!”

Jimmy agrees, “Having had the chance to work with Lisa and experience the venue in person for our engagement photos before the wedding day made it that much easier to relax about the photos on our wedding day. I knew Lisa would have a good feel of the venue and would know how to get those amazing, unique framings of photos we had seen in her work previously.”

Jimmy’s Ring Design

Jimmy says, “Designing the engagement ring was a great experience with Marty at Lester Martin Jewelers. He took the time to understand what I thought Jenna would want and showed me the options of what was in stock and what they could do to help get the final design aligned with the vision I had in mind for Jenna’s engagement ring. They really made me feel at ease and I knew they were a great fit vs some large jeweler chain.”

Jenna smiles, “Jimmy did such an amazing job with Marty- I couldn’t have picked a more “Jenna” kind of ring if I tried! I love the Sapphire “leaves” on my engagement ring band- it’s so unique and beautiful!

Holly Hedge Estate Wedding Preparation

I love photographing preparations, especially when i have awesome light like this to work with!  I can get really creative and play with things like light, reflection, silhouettes etc.  The windows were epic and let in the most gorgeous light!  The venue had mirrors and so many other elements for me to experiment with.  I love being a Holly Hedge Estate Wedding Photographer!  Indoors or out, everything is so beautiful!

Jimmy smiles, “I’ve known Jenna for 8 years, and am so in love with everything about her,  and have been for so long!  That is probably the biggest reason I felt so comfortable.”

He continues, “I think we both are open with what we want and agree on pretty much everything at this point, so planning a wedding wasn’t a big stress to add. We also had almost 2 years to plan the wedding after our engagement at Firefly Music Festival, so we had pretty much everything figured out as far as what we wanted early enough into the process that we didn’t feel the stress of all of those decisions leading right up to our wedding day.”

Veiled Photos 😉

Jenna’s veil is so pretty that I wanted to really show it off :).

As I shared, all of this gorgeous natural light is just one of the reasons I love being a Holly Hedge Estate Wedding Photographer!

Jimmy laughs, “So I tried and did steam my shirt on the hanger initially, and did all of my groomsmen’s shirts as well. But noticed once I tried mine on… it could be better. So obviously, instead of taking it off and steaming it that way… why not just save some time and do it while I am wearing it… with no undershirt. Brilliant! No surprises here… but this ended up slightly burning some sensitive areas while Jay was trying his best to get out the leftover wrinkles on the shirt I’m still wearing. Nothing too bad, but funny regardless.

Definitely, Water. 😉

Jenna shared, “Jimmy and I met online 8 years ago and so much of our relationship felt like a natural and easy progression. For our first date, we sat chatting for about 4 hours about a ridiculous variety of topics, and every date after that was like that too. So many of our values, interests, and preferences aligned or overlapped, and at this point, we’ve grown together so much.”

She adds, “The week leading up to the wedding felt surreal, but mostly we felt READY. We hadn’t rushed our engagement so that we had the time to plan it to fit us and I’m so glad that we did that.”

An Indoor First Look

I know most Holly Hedge Estate wedding photographers do a first look outside, but for this Holly Hedge Estate wedding, I decided on an indoor one!

Jimmy shares, “The indoor first look was a great idea! I am sure there were some other good places outside on the property we could have used and would have made for lovely photos. But having it inside just made Jenna and I much more comfortable, less sweaty, and hopefully more photogenic, haha! The use of the window lighting and mirrors in that room made for some amazing photos!”

Jenna adds, “It was super sunny and humid that day, and after getting photos of me getting ready in the upstairs part of the Old Barn the light coming in was beautiful, and it was so much cooler in the barn. I hadn’t thought too much about where the first look would be so I was definitely open to whatever Lisa could suggest. I didn’t want to be visible to family and guests before the ceremony so when Lisa suggested that we do a different kind of first look inside the barn it sounded right up my alley.”

She continues, “Lisa liked how the light looked with me standing, looking out of the window, so Jim went to grab Jimmy and bring him to the Old Barn. I watched as Jimmy walked under the window I was standing at, and my adrenaline started to rush. I was holding my gift to him- a handkerchief embroidered with the date- tight as Jim led him up the stairs behind me, and it was such a private, emotional moment for us to see each other. One of my biggest impressions from the entire day was how easy it was to smile because oh my god I was so happy!”

Reflecting on Dreamy Photo Techniques 😉

I missed their first look taking pics of the piano– KIDDING– I was using the piano’s beveled glass to get a unique perspective and add some visual interest. I felt like it transported them to this surreal, dream-like state.

Why a Holly Hedge Estate Wedding?

Jenna smiles, “I loved how lush and green the scenery was, and how beautifully it framed the historic late 18th century Inn and Old Barn. I was really hoping for beautiful weather because one of the first things I was impressed by at Holly Hedge was the brick courtyard set with a fountain in the middle. We got lucky with a beautiful, sunny (humid!) day, and made full use of the courtyard for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and photos, while also using the Old Barn for me getting dressed and our first look.”

She continues, “Our bridal party and some family and friends booked rooms at the Inn and we loved being able to have breakfast with everyone before leaving to get ready for the wedding, and then seeing everyone again the morning after the wedding. Jimmy wanted to have an after party after the reception and while initially, I didn’t think I’d make it that late– having the extra 2 hours of laid-back chatting with people after the reception ended was the perfect way to end our night (although the after-after party kept going until 2 am down by the pond!)  The reception felt like it flew by so it was nice to prolong such a gorgeous night.

Jimmy adds, “Being able to utilize the entire property grounds for photos and just hanging out after our After Party, really helped solidify that Holly Hedge Estate really was a great fit for us. Giving us that private feel we wanted for us and our guests at a beautiful property.

Super Models

Jenna smiles, “I loved setting up for the editorial-style photo with my girls! It was a great break from all of our more conventional and smiley photos–Lisa was great with instructing us on how to give it different levels and helped each person find the light coming in from a nearby window.”

Wedding Tips

If you are able to, Go unplugged and hire a band… both of those help so much to bring people into the real moments and experience them authentically, rather than through a phone or ipad screen.

Holly Hedge Estate Ceremony

Jenna shares, “The Pod Shop was a florist that works with Holly Hedge often, so they know the spaces there very well. I wanted the floral arrangements to fit into the aesthetic there while also highlighting it and making it ours. The flowers in the fountain and over the door where the ceremony was performed were exactly what I had hoped for. The brick courtyard, fountain, flowers, Old Barn, the greenery, and the back gate just made it such a special space to make our vows.”

She continues, “The officiant is one of Jimmy’s friends, Matt Budden, and he did such a stellar job officiating his first wedding. Technically, he was one of our official witnesses, since Jimmy and I registered for a Self Uniting Marriage. He walked us through our vows and the following morning we asked him and my maid of honor, Alayna, to sign the certificate as our witnesses.

Jimmy smiles, “So glad we chose my friend, Matt, to be our officiant. We had some ideas in mind after going through a few different versions of ceremonies and we gave him what we thought aligned with our thoughts on marriage the most. He took our bare-bones idea and really added his own thoughts to really drive it home. He really hit it out of the park and made the ceremony everything we wanted and more,  and we couldn’t have had a better person there to unite us.”

Here Jenna is walked down the aisle by her parents…

Interesting Perspectives

Jenna smiles, ” I always look forward to seeing your social posts and what creative, interesting perspectives you come up with. I’m especially captivated by some of the candids that you get, and it feels like you capture some of the “typical wedding moments” but with a different angle, focus, or lighting than what I’ve seen before. Your photos always just feel unique, in the very best way!

Two Photographers!

Jimmy shares, “Having Jim there the day of also help ensure all aspects of the wedding were covered, and he was a pleasure to work with. He was great working with the groomsmen, and I appreciated his help guiding my groomsmen to some better choices for photos than what they may have had in mind.

All in the Family

Jimmy says, “The large group photo was so great and easy for everyone involved. I heard many compliments on doing this from our guests throughout the night. The venue even helped me to organize people, too!  Having friendly, kind wedding vendors is just one reason I enjoy being a Holly Hedge Estate Wedding Photographer.

Jenna adds, “I loved the idea of getting a single photo with everyone there, especially since some people had to leave early and may not have been captured otherwise. I have a big extended family so it was an easy way to get a photo of all of our loved ones.

A Surprise inside his Suit, haha!

Sunglasses for the Win

Jimmy shares, “The sunglasses were an idea I had for my groomsmen as a quick gift for them. They were all personalized with my groomsmen’s names, and for mine, I put the wedding date on it. I thought it would be a fun quick thing for us to all wear for pictures.”

Ummm how cute are these?!?

Holly Hedge Estate Wedding Reception

Jimmy smiles, “I loved having Galavant Entertainment perform at the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception! Chris Giakas was great to work with, and helped ensure everything we wanted for music was played, and really nailed each part of the day. The Band was so fun!”

Jimmy’s Mom & Brother wrote/performed a SONG!

Jimmy smiles, “It was amazing to have my brother, Tom, and my mom, Cheryl, create such an amazing Mother-Son song for Mom and I to dance to. Mom always wrote replacement lyrics for songs for their group to sing together on mission trips, so she thought writing a song would be fun. Tom had been in a couple of bands and has written and engineered a few songs himself over the years, and is hugely musically talented.”

He continues, “When they told me they had this as an idea, I knew it would turn out amazing, and it truly did. I was so touched by my Mom’s words and her mouthing along to the lyrics while my brother performed them really made me realize how much thought and care she put into everything, and me. I am so grateful to have both Tom and Mom in my life and appreciate the beautiful gift of song that they have given me forever to enjoy.”

Jenna shares, “It’s such a sweet song, and we heard it for the first time as Tom sang it for Jimmy and Cheryl. It was so thoughtful and loving!

Jimmy adds, “Tom’s speech was amazing. He really nailed a good best-man speech, and I felt honored to be his big brother in that moment. His story about our childhood where he is stuck in the icy flooded culvert was one I remembered from my point of view, but he cemented how big of an impact my decisions that day made on him. His stories about Clara and Jenna also just showed how much he appreciates Jenna and how good of a fit she is for me.”

Jenna smiles, “I think Tom’s physical reenactment really helped illustrate his point! Tom also made this speech after singing for the Mother- Son dance, so it was extra impressive to go from performance to performance.”

Golden Hour Behind The Scenes at Holly Hedge Estate

Jenna smiles, “I loved being pulled out for the extra photo sessions. It made it easy for us to have an excuse to get away from the crowd, and have some quiet moments together, and after the twilight session I changed into my comfier heels, and after our final session, I changed into my more comfortable casual dress. We missed parts of the reception because of it, but we had the after-party as our extra socializing time, and lots of our family and friends took advantage of it!

Jimmy says,I could tell how much effort it takes to get these types of photos, and how much forethought is needed to ensure it all is set up right for that perfect shot. Looking forward to these photos!

Getting the Party Started

Jenna adds, “I loved dancing with everyone. It was a big celebration for us and our families, and they were really ready to celebrate! Our families and friends have been so supportive of us, so we wanted to really party it up with them, haha!”

Reflecting Back on The Best Day

Jimmy shares, “Holly Hedge, and our vendors, really made it so that we didn’t have much, if anything, to worry about or deal with the day of. So I really felt like I could enjoy the day for what it was, and not stress about the little things, since they were all taken care of.”

Jenna reflects, “All of our hard work leading up to that day while having trusted vendors to work with made it so that our day was as stress-free as possible. The entire day felt like the best dream, and it would have taken a lot to bring me down!
