You probably remember Liz & Mike from their beautiful canoeing engagement photos, their backyard wedding also incorporated a boat and fused antique elegance with the timeless, personal setting of her parents’ home. The newlyweds rowed a wooden boat in her parent’s pond (just like she did as a child), they shared Liz’ grandmother’s “famous” sponge cake topped with powdered sugar and fresh fruit and ended the evening with a stunning lantern release at sunset. Their day was organic, charming, simple and fit these two perfectly!

As a little girl, Liz’ father would row her and her siblings in this hand-made wooden boat in thier backyard pond, as a newlywed, their first “boat trip” was in the same boat and pond, only with Mike at the oars, so beautiful and also symbolic, I love that they did this:
Guest table centerpieces were from Alloway Creek Gardens:
Wedding favors were jars of home-made grape jam made from her parents vineyard and they used Liz’ grandmother’s sponge cake recipe as dessert
The kids thought the boat looked like fun, too…
