I tailored Tracy and Nick’s horseback riding and fly fishing engagement session to fit them and their lifestyle. We were able to take photos at the barn Tracy spends most of her time at as well as taking photos at a nearby stream where Nick enjoys fly fishing. These two (three including Chance the Pony 🙂 ) were so much fun to work with and I really loved the vibrant colors throughout their session.
Here Tracy and Nick kissed and her best friend’s horse, who happened to be watching us from the other side of the fence, reached over and kissed Chance! Tracy explained, “Rio is my best friend’s horse. It was perfect that he was in that picture with us because my best friend helped Nick pick my engagement ring, helped him set up the proposal, and she is one of my matrons of honor so it’s fitting that if she couldn’t be at my engagement pictures, her horse was! It wasn’t even intentional!”
Why Rhinehart Photography?
Tracy shares, “I wasn’t sure what I was looking for in terms of photography for our wedding, but when I saw Lisa’s photos from our wedding venue, Stroudmoor Woodsgate, I was sold. I love how bold and vibrant Lisa’s photos are! All the ways Lisa captures special moments are exactly what I was looking for. I was nervous for our engagement photos, but Lisa made the entire experience so relaxed and enjoyable.”
Nick shares, “What drew me to Lisa was the wide variety of angles and perspectives she uses. I also love how she immerses herself into the background of each couple, so the pictures exude the personalities and interests of the couples in the photos. There is no limit that will stop Lisa from getting a high-quality photo. During our engagement session, Lisa made the time fly and was such a pleasure to work with!”
The Story of Two Rings & A Hat
Tracy shares, “Both rings that I was wearing were from Nick. The engagement ring is a newer ring for me to wear, but the bow ring was a gift from when we first started dating 9 years ago, and it is the only other ring I have ever worn until my engagement ring.”
Tracy shares, “Nick’s hat is probably his favorite purchase this year from when we went to Nashville. He took forever to pick it out and had to have it and I can honestly say he wears it all the time.
Why Fly Fishing?
Tracy shares, “The river, water, woods (literally anywhere outside) is where Nick prefers to be. He usually does most of his fishing outside of NJ because he loves to make a whole trip out of it, but he would be happy fishing anywhere.”
Tracy continues, “While I am actually terrified of fish, it is truly Nick’s favorite pastime. Even if he is sitting inside making his flies, he is happy. I love that Nick has something he enjoys as much as I enjoy riding.”
Chance the Expressive Pony
Tracy shares, “Chance has many moods and can be pretty expressive. Sometimes the moods make for good pictures and sometimes they are just comical, but I am just happy he was willing to work with us during our engagement session! He is literally a perfect pony, and I am so lucky to have him.”
First Impressions & Falling in Love
Tracy smiles, “What made me fall for Nick, in the beginning, was his personality. He was making jokes about me the first night I met him and I was able to give it right back without worrying I was offending him. That personality is what I love most about him. We can be ourselves without worrying that we need to change for each other.”
Nick says, “The first impression I got from Tracy was that she was quite a shy person. I knew she was special, but needed to win her trust. I slowly fell more in love with her each time we were together while dating. As I got to know her, she allowed me to see how she was fearless, trustworthy, and kind.”
Horseback Riding and Fly Fishing Engagement
Tracy shares, “Choosing to use the barn and the river across from the barn was the perfect way to show both of our favorite places and how we can be with each other in them. The barn that I ride at has some of the greatest people and they are truly my barn family that Nick didn’t realize he became a part of. Half of them were there when he proposed and helped us celebrate that day so it just seemed right to have pictures there.”
Tracy says, “Nick is my biggest supporter when it comes to riding even when it doesn’t end so well.”
Nick shares, “I love going to horse shows and watching Tracy compete. It’s opened up a whole new interest in myself.”
Trust, Support & Love
Nick smiles, “What makes us work so well together is the trust I have with her, and how supportive we are of one another. Having different hobbies but never telling each other we have to give something up was important. It shows that you don’t want the person to change, you just want them to care about what you like to do for fun.”
This horseback riding and fly fishing engagement session was truly unique. I loved the chance to photograph Tracy & Nick at their favorite locations!
